Director of Bands
Fine Arts Department Chair [email protected] Mr. O’Shae Best serves as the Band Director at Fayette County High School (GA), where he oversees all aspects of the Fayette County High School Band Program. This includes 3 Concert Bands, Marching Band, Winterguard, and Pep Band. Along with his duties at Fayette, Mr. Best is the Artistic Director of the Atlanta Freedom Bands Concert Band, based in Atlanta, GA. Mr. Best also serves as the GMEA District 6 Treasurer, along with being able to be a honor band clinician throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. Most recently, he was the Director of Bands at Crestdale Middle School (a CMS school) in Matthews, NC and the Associate Artistic Director of the Charlotte Pride Band. A native of Laurinburg, North Carolina, O’Shae was a member of various ensembles throughout high school and college. Prior to returning to the classroom, Best served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Mead Witter School of Music, located at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where he led non-major University Band, guest conducted the UW Wind Ensemble and Concert Band, and assisted with the UW Marching Band. O’Shae is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, National Association for Music Education, and the National Band Association. He holds degrees from East Carolina University in music education and the University of Wisconsin – Madison in wind conducting. |
Joshua Irvin Nogal

Assistant Director of Bands
[email protected] Mr. Joshua Irvin Nogal is a native of Stockbridge, Georgia and is joining the Fayette County High School Tiger Band program as the Assistant Director of Bands for the 2025-2026 school year. Mr.Nogal is a graduate of Dutchtown High School in Hampton, Georgia and is a graduate of Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education K-12. Upon completion of his degree program, he relocated back to Georgia in the Metropolitan Atlanta area and is excited to join the FCHS staff. Mr. Nogal was a section leader of the baritone section of the Marching Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman University for three years and has aided several marching band and concert band programs in Florida and Georgia. He served as the Artistic Director of the B-CU Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble, Arranger/Winds Director for LiveWire and served as a board member for B-CU's chapter of the National Association for Music Education. He is also a member of the Eta Iota Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity Inc. |

Percussion Director
Shannon D. Lemon is a native of the metro Atlanta area. He is the father of Christopher Lemon. He graduated from Henry County High School (1997), Clayton College & State University (2002) with a Bachelor of Music and Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service (2003) with an Associate of Science in Funeral Service. He was a member of several different concert ensembles as well as a member of Spirit of Atlanta Drum & Bugle Corps (98, 99, 00). With over two decades of teaching experience in middle/high schools, DCI and WGI, he has also served as a clinician and adjudicator. |
